Unlike larger marine shrimp, prized for their sweet, delicate taste and are a popular ingredient in Bengali cuisine.
In Bangladesh used in various traditional dishes, such as *চিংড়ি ভাজা* (shrimp fry), *চিংড়ির ঝাল* (spicy shrimp curry), and *চিংড়ি পোলাও* (shrimp pulao). Due to their small size, they are often cooked whole, including the shell, which adds extra flavor and crunch. They are also sun-dried and preserved for later use.
